Counseling:

The City of South Bend has been approved by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a Local Housing Counseling Agency. The following types of housing counseling are offered:

  • Pre-Purchase Counseling
  • Mortgage Delinquency & Default Resolution Counseling
  • Non-Delinquency Post Purchase Workshops for Homeowners
  • Pre-Purchase Homebuyer Education Workshops

Additionally, the City participates in the Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network (IFPN).

Homebuyer Education:

REWARD (Real Effort Wins Affordable Residential Dwellings) is a training program offered by the Housing Development Corporation of St. Joseph County (HDC) for low and moderate income individuals who wish to purchase a home but have felt unprepared to complete the process. The primary goal of REWARD is to prepare individuals to purchase a home and successfully meet their financial responsibilities.
